Selenium Poisoning

- Caused by ingestion of plants that have accummulated excessive amounts of selenium
- May affect any herbivore, possibly also pigs
- Acute poisoning:
- Multiple organ systems are involved
- Chronic poisoning
- Poor hair quality, partial alopecia
- Horses - loss of mane and tail hair, deformed hooves that may be shed
